Bridging Community and Opportunity
Pride of Bertie's mission is to function as an organization that bridges the community to opportunities that cultivate and increase a sense of pride through awareness, advocacy, and action. We endeavor to both create and leverage such opportunities that lead to outcomes that improve a quality of life that is sustainable and spans across generations for all Bertie County citizens.
Our nonprofit structure will aim to provide the following services around our core areas of focus:

A nonprofit hub for projects and initiatives that support our mission objectives.

Capacity Building education focused on real-time issues and projects.

Grant writing and administration support and education.

Small-scale funding available through a Pride of Bertie Community Fund.

Partner with local nonprofits and government entities.
We envision that Pride of Bertie serve as a conduit that will drive CHANGE in Bertie County.
Our Why
We are not ALONE.
In 2019 a series of newspaper articles came out that described rural Eastern North Carolina, and in particular Bertie with a dwindling population, youth leaving, and dilapidated downtowns. Then a local radio program focused on the same. On the surface, the majority of rural towns do encounter these struggles. Bertie County is not alone. Yet, there is work to be done.
